What kind of fertilizer? I don't want to assume. If your response is any kind of fertilizer. It is a broad subject.

Hmmmm I'll cover the organics. As an organic medium decomposes it enriches the soil with nutrients. Bloodmeal provides Nitrogen. Bananas add Potassium. As you add decaying organic materials they enrich the soil and lower the ph. You can raise the ph with organics as well. Bonemeal, eggshells, oyster shells, clays & more can be used to raise your ph. If you use chemical fertilizer like miracle grow it will leave residual salts in the soil & eventually destroy it. Ask questions to point me in the right direction or get more specific answers.
