When You are Invited Out, Are you Influenced by Others in What You Order?

when I was young, we used to go out to a restaurant once a week, and I always got the feeling that I had better not order anything more expensive than what my father or mother ordered. So even though I might like something better, I wound up ordering the fruit salad, fish and chips, breaded cutlets rather than the one I really wanted. When I grew older, and after I married, I also looked into what my husband ordered, and ordered that if it was new, but in reality I did not want to order anything more expensive. Even though I wanted dessert, I never ordered any and especially if I had to use a doggie bag to take the remains of my meal home. I did order a dessert once but felt guilty afterwards. So has anyone here have the same experience in letting others decide what you order and how much to spend even though they could afford what you wanted and more?

henever I get invited out I order what ever I am in the mood to eat at that time. The only thing I ask is what my price range is. Plus it depends on were we are going. I dont care what other people think. I am my own person and I eat what I am in the mood for.

I usually don't order desserts when no one is ordering them, but I do love cheesecake. I eat what my husband eats, since we both love Italian, Chinese, and Thai food. But once in while, I would love to order some cheesecake, even if I could not finish the first course and had to take it home.

My dad worked for the city downtown and sometimes on a Saturday, we'd go to the White spot or one of its chain of restaurants in Vancouver. But Mom usually ordered first, and dad was tight with money, so it turned out to be a habit.

Only when out drinking, lol, which I do incredibly rarely. I have a real competitive spirit and that sometimes causes me trouble. I tend to get a macho thing going and want to drink everyone else under the table.
Which, FYI, 2 yards of Guiness in about 10 minutes? BAD IDEA
