Is Anyone Really Making Money Online?

This questions comes up from frustrated network marketers all the time. I know because I used to be one of them. I've been networking since Dec 2000 and have learned a thing or two about how to make money online.
STEP ONE: Find a biz you can sink your teeth into. It should be something you enjoy doing. Do you like travel, health & wellness, gift baskets, cake decorating, etc. It will be easier to stay motivated when you're working with something you really like doing. This is the easy part.
STEP TWO: Once you've chosen a product or service you want to offer, decide if you want a home business or become an affiliate. With a home business, there's generally a startup fee and may also include a monthly fee. As an affiliate, it is usually free to join and they also provide you with a website to promote your product/service. With a home biz, you will have some type of support made available to you thru your team. As an affiliate, you are pretty much on your own.
STEP THREE: Educate yourself so that you can learn how to market your new biz online. There are tons of ebooks and internet marketing courses out there, so how are you suppose to choose? My suggestion is to ask questions in discussion forums and then put what you learn into practice. Thru trial and error, you will find out what personally works for you and what you are not confortable with. If you're short on time, you can also choose to pay for advertising online & offline. Just make sure you set aside an ad budget so you can advertise on a regular basis.
That's pretty much it in a nutshell. Anyone can make money online. I think the number one reason people fail is due to consistency. You must work your business everyday, even if you can only spare 30 minutes. I promise it will pay off. It may seem overwhelming at first but keep in mind you will not have to work hard forever. Only in the beginning. Once your biz begins to grow, you will eventually reach a point where it starts to grow on its own and all you will need to do is maintain it.
Work hard now, so that you can relax later.

Hey great post.. i fully agree with you.. a lot think that they will make thousands from thier first month and end up hoping from one program to the other.. i have a couple of other points to point out:
1- They should investigate the company they wanna work with/for
2- They should know whether the company is just a trend or there to stay, continuity is important!
I am currently in a home business marketing a company called trafficwave, it is a great company, i joined in june, i do not make much but my revenues cover my fees and leave me with some profit.. i think if i keep working hard for it in a year's time il start receiving good income
Anyways, good luck

I have recently become interested in trying to make more money online. Right now I do GPT sites and the like and I can make a couple hundred a month if I try hard enough, but I am looking to do something that feels more like a "job."
How do you find the sites to become an affiliate? The problem is whenever I find anything I am interested in it is really just a scam and they want me to send money. Where do I look?

You have given great advice for those who need it... I will add that joining a great business network can help out a lot, too! :)
I'm consistantly finding more and better ways to earn money and it's getting easier with the advent of Web 2.0's social networking emphasis, being an affiliate marketer doesn't have to be such a solitary effort anymore...
Even free college level business education courses are available for today's entreprenuer...
Stuff like that was unheard of even less than five years ago when I started! :)
People who want to be sucessful making money online have a lot more going for them these days...
Like you said, all they have to add is effort! :)
