Could a telemarketer be harassing me?

I understand that telemarketers have to call people because it's their job. Thus, they should be treated with respect and if you are not interested you should respectfully decline the offer. For the past few weeks, a woman keeps calling my house asking if I was interested in changing my internet connection. On the first day, I patiently listen to her offer and then I told her I wasn't interested. The next day, she called again I was patient and respectful. Two weeks later she is still calling, so today I totally lost it... I hung up on her. Is this harassment? How can I stop this from happening? please give me your opinions! Thank you! S.L.

Make sure you tell them to take you off their calling list. I worked for a company that called newspaper subscribers to give offers, collect past due payments, etc. Once we were told to take them off the calling list, we had to mark that record so that no one called them back. I didn't last long in that job. :)

if they have called everyday I think you should call your phone company and complain that this # is calling continuously and they will block it for you. if you've politely declined the offer, they should get the picture and stop calling the same number over and over. i myself have had to call the phone company and block some #'s that were pestering me over and over

Ask to be placed on their do not call list. They must stop calling you once you do that. If they don't then it is harassment.

Have you once told her firmly that you are not interested? That she should stop calling you? If you want to make it the ultimate, ask that you be placed on their "No Call List". They cannot reject you and will have to oblige. You shouldn't then be getting further calls from her. ;-)
