bothering me

Basically, I realised that none of us actually exist (stay with me here). As no one will ever know the true you, and you can argue this point all you like, but no one except for you will ever truly know you. People can have a pretty good idea, but when it comes down to it, it is physically impossible for anyone to know the real you, all your thoughts, feelings and reactions. We perceive people in different ways, and our perceptions are all that carry on. You see, once you die, you cease to exist, however people’s perceptions of you remain, so you won't live on, but how people see you will. For example, every one of you reading this will see me in a different way, but none of those ways is how I see me, even though some of you may be closer than others. So, the way I see myself and others is in essence unique. It is my own world, my own society, just like you all have your own. So yes, the world does revolve around ourselves. It's not selfish, it's human nature. Everything we do benefits us. (Feel free to argue that point to, but when it comes down to the core, it's also true.)
So then I got to thinking that if we are nothing but a perception, and perceptions can change (which also means that people can't change, only others perceptions of them can) then are we not all in a collective consciousness? We are all perceptions, we are all dreams, we are not real, and we are just a consciousness, a collective state of perceptions and sub-reality.
This then made me wonder what this reality must be based on, and think about it... time is the answer. We are told when it is one am, we are told when it is eight pm, but who is to say that this is right? And if time on a clock is circular, then what is to stop actual time being circular? What is to say that our linear perception of time is right? What if time was just a loop? A loop that we can't get out of? But then would realising this loop break it? It's like the solar system; the moon revolves around the earth, much like our perceptions revolve around us. In turn both of these objects and all the planets revolve around the sun (the collective consciousness) now; can we break from this ever-lasting loop, just like a stray moon can? Or is it already pre-determined that we will continue to loop forever?
But you see, time is the foundation on which we all stand, and what happens if you knock down the foundations? Everything crumbles... So, if by realising that time is just a perception, and is not linear, but on a loop, am I causing my foundation (perception of time) to crumble away? Well... Yes. And as we are all in our own society with our own perceptions all I am doing is causing my world... or in essence my mind... to crumble... So by realising all of this... I'm sending myself crazy.
Seriously, I've spent days thinking about this now and I really am going out of my mind.

Someone said that there are four "myselves". The one I am really, the one I think I am, the one I think other people think I am and the one others think I am. I add that as every fellow will see me in a different way, there would be infinite "myselves".

Why think about this at all if it is causing you trouble? :) I think everyone looks at each other in different ways. It really depends on how you act towards these people. What they see in you may not be seen by others but that quality is you even if you don't realize it at all..:)

Time isn't quite circular, but it's not linear either. It's a construct unique to the circumstances of our universe, and can go slower or faster for people based on velocities and gravitational masses and such (i.e. see einstein for a better explanation).
If the universe were to begin contracting, for example, it's theorized that time would begin to reverse itself. Yeah, no joke. And at the point of total universal collapse, the very idea of time likely wouldn't exist because the mass of the universe would be warped in on itself so much that it would, in effect, simply be a loop of infinitude.
None of this really effects us in the daily grind of life, but it's interesting stuff.
Again, not joking. I'm paraphrasing Stephen Hawking madly here (hopefully not inaccurately) but I'll stop beforre I say more that is of dubious validity without the actual book in front of me.

That is a rather eclectix mixture of individualism, existensialism, self actualization, and free association that you have begun here. No less or more valid for hitting on multiple phycho-social ideologies at once. You know as we head into the future with this in mind it becomes easier and easier to disassociate and to become anti-social at best and at worst can incubate a possible sociopath in the making. Be careful what falls into or is sucked into such an open mind as yours because once in for good or ill nothing ever leaves the mind and the memory if only the subconscious. Does the subconscious really exist in your world to. Or the id, ego, and superego possibly.

Yes. I think you have found something to tink about-real big time! Pun intended! You see if one thinks, one finds the answer. You will find your own plane (answer) and then go on to the next and the next......... till you become sublime-when you become one with YOURSELF-when you become sublime. And let me tell you a little philosophy of my own- Change is the only constant in one's life. Even to with regard to yourself. If what you think is right today, tomorrow the same thing may not necessarily be right for you-in your own eyes. Therefore, what others think of you or what others percieve of you is immaterial. Even what you think of yourself is immaterial. It is what YOU actually ARE is what is important. What you do, your actions, your thoughts, your reactions to a given, is what is important. The abstract of anything and everything is important. Think of nothingness. Think of no time. time is what we percieve to be is time. There was, is and will be no time. It is the beginning and the end. It is and is not. Think about it and you will find all your answers and move on from there. YOU ARE!! that is all there is about you. Call it your soul, your alma mater, your soul, your other half etc or any ohter name. It is nothing. YOU ARE! that is all.

Hello!
I commend you for having thought abut this thing. However, I should say that this shouldn't bother you enough. As everyone of us is unique that the bible declares that we are we created in God's own likeness,we should not be puzzled about being just one's peception or a reality.
I guess you would be satisfied if you would just think that you have made the best of your existence. Be what you are, acknowledge your worth and cherish your uniqueness!

There are 4 types of 'You' 4 different types of person of you. The person other people think you are. The person yourself think you are. The person you hope to be. And finally the person you really are. Learn to live with all of them.
About time, well to me it is just a concept we created to tell now from then.

I think you'd enjoy the book "The Holographic Universe" by Michael Talbot.
I had the same dillema a few years ago and the book cleared up allot of questions in my mind.
I feel that everyone, essentially, is energy and not personality.
The same as you, I believe that a ball is only round if your perceive it as round.
