The star ratings, also known as mylot reputation are an important part of this community (mylot) as it gives readers of discussions an idea of how good the person's responses are and I'd say that the higher the reputation they have, the more seriously are taken. It is your decision whether you will rate discussions and responses, and if you do, the people will appreciate it, and perhaps give you a + when they see you posting. I give + to responses and discussions I though were of good quality, not concentrating too much on the reputation the person already has, as they might be trying to improve it by starting to post better, quality discussions. Good luck and welcome to mylot! I hope you enjoy your time here aiai_embscado.

I do not know how important the rating is. But definitely, for those who generate their own discussions, it is their responsibility to rate the responses they get. If they cannot do this, they have no business of starting their own discussions because they are not capable of carrying it through. We have to face and take our responsibilities at all times for no one else is there to do this for us.

I'm not sure how important it is but I try to do it as much as possible. In fact, I think I might rate people more than I actually comment.
