The West Indies defeated Pakistan in a convincing 54 run win in the Opening Match of the World Cup at Kingston, Jamaica.
West Indies won largely due to an all round performance by Dwayne Smith 32 runs off 15 balls including 3 fours and 2 sixes. He took 3 wickets for 36 runs off his 10 overs which included the important wickets of Mohd. Yousuf and Inzamam.

Yeah West Indies had emphatic win over pakistan. Though they lost gayle early, but sarwan and chanderpaul steadied the ship with sarwan playing some lovely shots. Then when they got out samuels and lara got together, Samuel played some delightful shots & looked in real good touch. Then after the fall of three quick wickets, dwayne smith played a real good cameo to help West Indies post a challenging total.
The pakistan also lost quick wickets early on which forced them to play catiously and it the asking rate kept climbing which put lot of presure on paksitani playes and when they tried to hit their way out of trouble they got out. Lara was excellent with his bowling changes, and his aggresive field placing too. And dwayne smith's deserved man of match for his brilliant performance.
