Is Marriage a farce?

I grew up in a family who valued marriage. My parents are married for 31 years now and are as happy as can be. I was taught to value relationships. It's just that there are more and more people I see that have their marriages broken because of infidelity, financial problems, and even just because they realized simply that they are not getting along anymore. Did society already come to a point where the value of marriage is not anymore the same as before? What could have caused this?
