Do you prefer to pay or drive traffic

I am currently planning on having a website of my own, i have an idea that is not out there yet, im still filtering it, however, i cannot say it all as i do not want someone to steel the idea and implement it before i do. However, i am thinking of something, if i can drive over 20,000 hits of quality traffic (not from people surfing to earn points) every month, would you advertise with me? Would you prefer to pay say 10$ per month for your ad or would your rather drive traffic to my website? This site will not be up before a few month from now, i am not marketing, i am just gathering information. I want to have a website that represents what people want, and a website where everyone wins! Thanks for your help
