My family and I are thinking of going here for my daughters birthday any recommendations as to what to do while we're there... We'll be there in August!

There's the usual fishing, swimming, surfing type stuff that goes with any beach. I like taking the ferry across to Bolivar. It's always kind of fun to try to spot the dolphins swimming nearby. Shopping on the Strand is always a blast as well as visiting some of the cafes and such along there. Moody Gardens is always fun but can be kind of pricey. If it's her birthday you need to take her to Joe's Crab Shack for lunch or dinner though and be sure to tell them it's her birthday!
