Regardless of your religion, how do you view the Pope? Without a doubt, a Pope is one of the most influential person in the world, yet different people from different walks of life views him differently.
Christians, do you believe that you are under the scope of the Pope?
For those of other religion, what's your opinion of the Pope?

I am a christian and i don't believe in the pope.In the past i am a catholic believer, but i just respect him out of courtesy for his position.Do you know the meaning of pope...pope is the latin word for father and God has commanded that no one is to be called father except your biological father because he is your father by flesh. The rest is prohibited because there is only one father and that is the Father in heaven.Furthermore Peter the apostle didn't reach Rome in his entire life,so he can't be the first pope as the catholics claim.Peter is ordained or commanded by Jesus to be the leader of the faithful in Israel, while Paul is to the Gentiles or non Jewish race.Rome is a Gentile nation,so will Peter break the command of Jesus to be pope,i don't think so.The papacy is a big lie and a blasphemy to God.

I live in Italia, a Catholic country (even if Italians are not so interested in their religion and there are thousands of atheists). Unfortunately the pope can influence the politics of our government and this is unfair, because our country is (should be) a secular country and instead our politicians always pay attention to the pope's orders.
I'm not Christian, I'm a secular person with a pagan ethic, but I am forced to stand Vatican interferences.
I've nothing against Christianity or the pope, but we can't, we mustn't suffer the arrogance of Vatican politics.

Great topic, azriel!;)
I don't believe in him(pope), eversince I became a born again Christian, I already put my beliefs directly to Jesus. And through Jesus, I know that God also listens to me. A respect would do, as the pope is what most catholics try to look up to whenever they need spiritual guidance.
For me, I rely on God's words and that is the Bible. I also found out that there's a big difference in how spirituality is practiced in what the Bible states, and I understand more easily most of the teachings there. As for the church, it has many complications and obligations for an individual to follow that are bound to them..

I think any position that allows one person to decide the reality of millions of others is just plain wrong. He can just make up a doctrine, and then Catholics worldwide feel they must adhere to it, or they might go to hell. That's just evil.
