When you started drawing did you draw the same thing over and over?

I drew trees and dogs, now I am off on a portrait tangent. My sons draw weapons and soldiers, a couple of girls I know draw nothing but horses. Did you do this and if so what was your favorite object?

I always liked drawing trees, I think because they come in so many shapes and sizes. I also like to draw animals and birds, and lanscapes and still lifes. I can't seem to get the knack of portraits even though I was taught in art class years ago the basics, it just doesn't seem to be my thing. What medium do you use? I like working with pen and ink and watercolor.

I've really loved drawing trees, I find shading the leaves very relaxing.

I like to draw portraits. My first drawing was of a old man done back when I was in elementary school. From there on all I ever wanted to draw was portraits. I've tried drawing animals but I don't really care for them to much. I've done a picture of a lion and a snake. My daughter is taking after me because she loves to draw people.

when I started drawing I had two favourite subjects, very different from each others...I used to draw flowers...each kind I could...different sleeves, dimensions and colours...then I turned to another passions...and I concentrated on faces and above all noses...I have always tried to draw the best nose I could...maybe this is due to the fact that I hate my nose... I covered pages and pages with those beautiful noses...by the way it is ages since I drew my last nose...I must have a try and draw a new one!!!

I will draw horses mostly, because I can do them pretty well. I also draw faces - kind of the same one all the time. But I don't exactly call myself an artist!

I think practice makes perfect. I was sure I couldn't draw unil recently. My children told me I could, they had suspicions, set me a challenge, and sure enough what I turned out was surprisingly ok. I think we all have hidden depths, even from ourselves.

I draw cats and am getting pretty good at it. I am working in pencil and practicing my shading. Right now I am working on a painting of my tortoise shell.

I'm quite afraid of painting. I tried a boat scene once in acrylics and it turned out worth framing, but I thought it looked far moere forced then sketches.

I've never really been into cartoons. There is a section in my drawing book, maybe one day I'll try it out.

My favorite object to draw is dragons something about them draws me to them so I draw them. I contine to draw them to be able to perfect them. The more I draw of them the better I get at drawing them. I will possibly move on. I have drawn a picture of my niece and newphew with charcoal and everyone liked it. Now I am being asked to draw a new born of my husbands niece. I love drawing it soothes me and takes me to another dimenstion in my brain..

For the most part, I drew most of the same things that I am drawing now. I used to try and draw pictures of people and houses and scenery but that did not work out well so I have been doing my particular artwork for a long time now and have not gone away from it. I am better at my abstract/geometric art than I am of figures and scenery.

I think this is common because drawing the same things over and over again help us to become more confident in what we are drawing. It also helps one to learn different techniques and variations of drawing that subject. I started out drawing horses also. But from there it turned into a Pegasus. After that I started drawing dogs...then the Turtle Franklin. Later, I was staring at a picture of this girl and all of the sudden, I just saw shapes and shades. So, I picked up my pencil and started drawing her. It turned out pretty good. And from there I started drawing people. :) I still struggle from time to time. But I have not had any formal training. So, I am pretty happy with my work. :)

When I was younger I only drew horses and dolphins, but now that I'm older I really don't want to draw the same thing over and over again. I try to practice my technique instead of the actual object (unless I'm trying to prepare for a painting).

my first drawing was that of rainbow bright when i was still young, i continually drew her till i was satisfied she looked liked the rainbow bright i saw on tv. When I got older i drew cats, dogs, even plants...i may stop drawing one subject but in the end I come back again and try to draw a better version of the ones I drew before. Right now I'm into drawing/sketching portraits, I'm getting better at it...my favorite subject right now are my children. I'm trying to perfect drawing the both of them. I have a portrait that looks a lot like my daughter, but I'm still not that satified with it, so I'm still looking to perfect it.

I tend to draw houses or mountains with sun shining in between. I don't know why...but everytime I've tried to draw something, I always end up drawing houses or mountains. Maybe because when I try to draw something else, it didn't really shown what I actually had in mind. If I draw cow...it will look like dog (except with horns), or when I draw a horse....it will look like....hm, geez...I didn't even know what it was, didn't even look like a horse....hehehe. So, I think I better stick with houses and mountains.....

Hi seamonkey! Yeah, I do it for sure! And the point is: noses. Noses amaze me, it's a strange subject and I think that's just because I realy like portraits, they're the perfect drawings. In every page of my sketchbook there is at leat one nose. Not just human, but animal ones too. Maybe I just crazy, yeah.

I watched a show on TV at the young age of 9 and learned to draw a landscape. I still draw it today and for years it was what I drew when ever I drew anything!

Nope, I always drawn different things but sometimes I'd draw and then re-draw it and add something different, over and over again to see how far I could push it. Almost like taking a photo of your garden and then re-taking one in a year or so and seeing that a tree has begun to grow. ~joey

When I am a kiddie, I had to learn from the art teachers. So I will just do whatever he/she instructs. I can't really draw.. though I would really love to draw well.
