More and more movies are being made that are based on books. For the most part I like the books better, maybe because I can use my own imagination to see things my own way. Although I really liked the Lord of the Rings movies, as well as The Harry potter movies, I prefer the book for the most part. What about you?

I prefer books. I am not real happy when they decide to mae a book into a movie.they usually don't do a good job of keeping to the book and end up changing it til you can hardly tell it's the book.

I agree with you. I think that if you're going to make a movie out of a book you should keep the original storyline. What's the point otherwise?

I never get to read any of those books but I've seen all of the movies you mentioned.. including the sequels.
The movies were excellent themselves. I overheard a Harry Potter fanatic one time though. And he said those Harry Potter books/novels are way better than the movies. I have yet to overhear or listen to remarks from Lord of the Rings bookworm fanatics though.

Usually if I have read the book before watching the movie I prefer the book and vice versa except for the movie (oh no my minds gone blank) but Kathy Bates took the part of Annie and kept an author hostage in his home. Do you know which one I am talking about. I will remember the name sooner or later and post it here again for you. You must think I am a real idiot.

With Lord of the Rings, I really can't decide if I like the books better or the movies better. They are both amazing, and they are my favorite books AND movies! Both have their advantages and disadvantages, but I love both equally. I can't decide! The movies followed the books extremely well, and I absolutely love the way they were so well done.
With Harry Potter, I definitely enjoy the books a lot more. I also love to visualize what's happening in the stories in my mind, and my mind creates them a certain way that the movies fall short of capturing. They also leave so many parts out of the movies, and that is disappointing. I still enjoy the movies, but if I had to choose I would say the Harry Potter books are better.

I agree that the Harry Potter books are better. I thought the movies were good for what they were though.

To me, books are much better. You can use your imagination more. They ususally delve deeper in to the characters and they go in to more detail. Movies have a budget so they can cut out an important part of the book.
The Green Mile", comes to mind. There was a lot of intimate stuff left out of that movie, but I still enjoyed it.

I prefer books because you may go back to read it anytime and anyplace when you do feel like reading it again. Well, I hope you would be interested in these. I have been publishing at lulu.com I am a translator of the Word of God from Greek to English. I have already published GENESIS, EXODUS, LEVITICUS (Greek-English), THE WILL New Testament (Greek to English), ELEMENTS of SALVATION, The Right Way, GOD, ORIGIN, TRANSFER into PERFECTION, GREEK-ENGLISH (Grammar & Vocabulary), WORDS in THE WILL New Testament, and others shown at

GENESIS, EXODUS, LEVITICUS (Greek-English) is not only about history. It is the source of wisdom and knowledge. Our basic knowledge in everything comes from these first three books of the Holy Bible. I hope you would include at least this one in your reading. May God bless you.

I agree that the books are usually much better. In fact, I can't think of one case where it's the other way around. I never read the LOR trilogy, but I've been told they are great books. I really disliked, I mean really, the Harry Potter movies. However, again, I have been told the books are better. But since I didn't enjoy the movie I haven't picked up any of the books. So I suppose in this case the movie actually jaded me.

Movies are so chill..I think it depends on my mood. A beach, a hammock and a breeze = book.
Snow, fireplace, blanket = movie
