Help! Why I am Feeling Dizzy?

United States
March 14, 2007 1:16pm CST
I hope to lose weight, and the first thing was I bought a gym pass. The second thing, I try to eat less oil and sugar but keep taking multi-vitamin. But I went back from gym feeling dizzy. And it doesn't get any better all these days even a good sleep doesn't help. I started gym work a week ago. Never did anything too violent, but only ran for 20 minutes and workout for another 20 min, while my heart rate was 160 the maximum. In order to get rid of this dizziness, last night I slowed down my running to control my heart rate below 140. But still, I feel dizzy then and till now. Is it because I got too much workout? Or could there be a medical problem? Shall I continue to gym or stop it?

Not visiting a doctor yet. As I did much gym work before and never had any problems, I am very unsure what is going wrong. Thank you for the suggestions, I will follow for sure.

Are you getting enough fluids? Anytime you excercise you should be sure you are drinling enough water. Or you may want to try a sports drink like gatorade. It will help replenish what you are sweating out.

That's a very good suggestion. I have a pile of gatorade but always forget to bring one with me. Thanks!

It sounds like your blood pressure is low. I would check with a doctor, if this continues, as you can pass out. Good luck sugar.

I would be inclined to visit the Doctor and make sure your a drinking plenty of water. Make sure that you have a good breakfast if you are trying to lose alot of weight try to eat more in the mornings and less in the evening so as you can burn it off during the day and not be sleeping it off so to speak....

I appreciate very much for the good suggestion. My mom had talked about this good habit but over years it faded away from me. Very nice to read your post and I will try to keep up with this.

Even though you've started a new diet, any time you have strange symptoms with your body it's always a good idea to see a doctor. You're body is making you dizzy for a reason, and I'm such a doctor could help you the best. I know it's hard seeing a doctor when you don't have a lot of money, but try a free clinic if you can. Are you eating enough food a day? If you have made to strict of a diet it could make you really tired.

I got your point and it is very true. Due to my low thyroid activity, I am not have much appetite these days. It could be at the margin of a hypothyroid but not that obvious yet. Therefore it is very possible that my sugar supply was not enough. Thanks for the nice post. Also I did not know there are free clinic yet. Now I will do a internet search for that. :-)

I got your point and it is very true. Due to my low thyroid activity, I am not having much appetite these days. Last time in November when I did a blood test, it was at the margin of a hypothyroid but not obvious yet. Therefore it is very possible that my blood sugar supply was not enough when I did not eat well. Thanks for the nice post. Also I did not know there are free clinic yet. Now I will do a internet search for that.:-)

As with all diets and exersize programs, it is wise to see a doctor. They can tell you what could be wrong. Are you taking a potassium supplement? Sweating causes potassium to deplete out of your system.

Thank you for replying my post. You definitely know a lot. I am not taking potassium supplement, therefore it is a bit strange. Yes I am hoping to see a doctor but so far I did not switch my health plan yet, and I am not covered enough yet. I will make up my mind to get a doctor if it goes worse. Thank you again for everyone read this to learn the potassium knowledge.
