I wouldn't get too far without fins. Maybe that's the trouble? I started by bodyboarding and sometimes when we were done we would just play in the water, bodysurfing. That's how I decided t start my kids out, and will move them to boards later.

Fins definitely make it easier. I'm not that serious about it though. If there's a good wave, I usually don;t need them.

I still body surf and do a little body boarding but gave up the surf board years ago. I do love it though. There is nothing else like it in the world!

Once you get the hang of it it is a great way to spend an afternoon on the beach.

Now that I am older and have gotten more shark phobic maybe I'll give it another whirl. Sharks aren't a problem here, but I'm from the Bloody Triangle, so it is always in the back of my mind.

I skimmed a couple of times after seeing people who could really do it on tv. I', m afraid my knee and wet packed sand didn't get onn too well, though! It was fun until that happened!

Oh no way! Body sufing is so bad compared to the real thing! Riding on the wave with the big boy out in stinson is so much better then going out on your stomach! I mean why would you do ysomething like that!

Well, if you have done an 12' drop at Chronk on your belly you'd have an idea of what 'big' looks like. It's all a matter of perspective!

I'm hooked on bodysurfing, but I also like to bodyboard. I'm 17 and I go to the beach everyday even though school started I still go down there after school and catch some waves its fun. I live in southern california though so a wetsuit is a must because the water is usually in the 50's and 60's.
