This book has been the best for me. I've heard people call it the pregnant woman's bible. I have used this book through 2 pregnancies and it has been a blessings. I also have the Mayo Clinic book and a Better Homes & Gardens pregnancy book, but nothing compared to the first one. Any comments?

Personally I hated What to Expect. There was a lot of misinformation and myths. Plus it has a lot of scare mongering, making pregnancy to be this scarey medical ordeal. I always tell pregnant women to skip that book and find a better one, like Having a Baby by Peggy O'Mara or The Pregnancy book by Dr. Sears

I have to agree with Lillake. I'd add Ina May Gaskin's Guide to Childbirth and Gentle Birth Choices by Barbara Harper to her recommendations.

Ditto and ditto! Add to the list (as I commented below) The Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth by Henci Goer.

Thank you. I thought that I was the only one that hated that book. It scared me for no reason and I felt a lot better when I stopped reading it and started reading other books. Also, the What to Eat When You're Expecting made me feel like my baby was going to be starved before he was born. I couldn't eat barely anything let alone the disgusting things recommended in that book. Thank goodness for common sense books.

Through out my first pregnany I lived with my nose in that book. I always got excited an read ahead a few pages just to get a preview of what was next. During my second pregnancy I looked at it alittle less but I was always reading up on the babys development. The baby development pages are my favorite.

This is my third pregnancy and I've used it for all three. I would definately recommend it to my friends. I also read The girlfriends guide to pregnancy. It adds a little humor to pregnancy.

I have it & have referred to it off & on in all 3 of my pregnancies. I also just got the what to expect in the first year that was given to me. It is so easy to forget what the milestones are.

I have that book, what to expect when expecting. And probably looked at it twice, maybe three times at most. I also have the 'week by week" book, and look at that one all the time. I really like that one better........not sure why. I guess if I had more issues or questions I would opt for the expecting one, however so far everything is fine and I like to read about what is going on week by week and the developments from there.

It is very informative, and by far the most popular pregnancy book out there. I had a wonderful pregnancy journal as well that told you what was happening from day to day during your pregnancy, and I looked forward to it every day. For my money, the best book out there about pregnancy and childbirth is "The Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth" by Henci Goer. I recommend it to as many pregnant women as possible! :)
