It's well known that chocolate has the "feel good" factor and can certainly have a lot of benefits. Everything in moderation of course though :-)

I don't think that's true and can help during PMS. Caffeine (can be found in chocolate) is a central nervous system stimulant that can make you anxious and jittery. It also acts as diuretic and can deplete many important nutrients during PMS days.

Chocolate is a true aphrodesiac, containing a chemical that acts on the pleasure portion of the woman's brain. During PMs, one's body chemisty is making one feel cruddy. The chocolate makes you feel better. So yes, it really does help.

I believe the association with chocolate cravings and PMS comes from the chemical reaction that chocolate induces in the brain--the feeling of being loved. Since we feel so crappy during PMS, we look to that to comfort us... I'm not sure how correct that is, but that's what I've heard.

I wouldn't say indulging in chocolate is the best way to deal with PMS but it helps. They say chocolate has components that make the body release seratonin, which is what they call the "feel good body chemical", the same chemical responsible for making people feel good after making love. And the fact that it tastes so good would also help ease the suffering of your monthly. A nibble is good but having a chocolate binge is probably just another reason for indulgence.
