Today was my Mother's 58th birthday. I took her over to a restaurant called Shogun. We were all having a great dinner when I made the mistake of mentioning that it was her birthday. Now, my mom tends to get nervous around a bunch of people...so imagine what happened when 6 people came out banging a gong, and placed a kimono on her, and a wig on her head. Then they took her picture, and super-sized it on the wall with a projector to be shown when people walked in the door. My mom looked mortified, so my questions is, would you tell the server that it was your birthday, or would you keep it to yourself....Remember, a free Happy Birthday song is on the line...

My kids did that to me, but a free meal came with the song and stupid hat. Now my grandkids all want to go somewhere cool for their birthday so they cn get a free dessert and wear the stupid hat. This year it was Montana's they tok the middle two to, and they both loved the attention. I, however, was mortified, and won't go out anywhere with my kids within week of my birthday.

Oh my! You made me laugh. Well, if it's really my birthday, I will be flattered but if it's something like your mother where you mistakenly mentioned that it was her birthday, it's kinda embarrassing. Because you know for a fact it's not your birthday. lol :)

I guess it woul deped on the situation. Of course I would see all the humour in it if it was a friend of mine! My kids would get a kick out it because all children loved to be recognized on their birthday. Now me, well, I guess maybe just once. I worked at a restaurant where we sang to people for such reasons. Most of the people didn't like to be honest. I don't think very many birthday people request it. It is all their friends and family who want to surprise them.

If your over five years old it would be VERY enbassising! But after the hole ordeals over your mom will thank you for it and think your the best child ever! So when the music starts run away to avoid stangling. Then fiftenn minutes later return to laughter!
