It's nice to have a mother in law (mil) that is a friend. She lives in MI, we live in NY. We've lived here for 7 months and she's been out 4 times to visit already! My son loves her. I just couldn't imagine is she didn't like me. I know so many people have to deal with that. I will definitely make it a point to be friends with my son's lady friend.

That is lovely, I like both of my sons girlfriends and would never want to have a bad relationship with them. As far as I'm concerned as long as my sons are happy then that is OK with me. I wouldn't like it though if they were with girls that messed them around and made them unhappy but I guess that is natural.

My son isn't old enough to be too concerned yet, but isn't it hard? Don't you just want to protect them forever? But, you are right, as long as they are happy and can defien themselves. Let's just raise our kids to be strong and confident.

My MIL lives with us. It is no hassle as she does not interfere in my life. I bring up my children on my own terms with full support from my husband. She was given a tough time by her MIL so she is very particular that her DIL dont feel the same resentment towards their MIL as she did towards hers. I think its a positive attitude. She adores my children and they love her too.

It's a good thing for grandparents to adore their grandkid. I love my MIL also. I think I have a better relationship with her than my husband does. I hope my son finds someone that will be my friend also.

Cool! you must be one of the lucky few who are friends with their mother-in-laws... as it is pretty common to see MILs not being in good terms with their daughter-in-laws... am not married yet and I hope I'll have the same fate as yours when the time comes. Godbless!
