If anyone ever needs help with a project, just let me know and I will try to give some advice. I sew for myself and others. I have also made things from scratch.

I don't. Sorry. Sergers are very sensitive. You didn't get directions with it? I will ask around for you. My parents own an alteration business.

Are you 100% certain everything is threaded correctly? Also, my tension gets off when my thread pops out of the tension disks, so check those.

I've made one quilt. I did this without following any directions. I could give you some advice on the border: I would cut the fabric enough to fold over depending on how wide you want the border (ex: if you want it to be 2 in wide, cut 4 & a half inches, fold it, iron, and sew onto the quilt). Make sure when you cut the length, cut it long enough to have extra fabric (if 2 inches wide, make sure the length is 4 and a half inches longer than the quilt). I think this might be confusing. If you don't get this, keep in touch and I will try to explain it more.

Awesome! I will keep you in mind! I love to sew. I make quilts on the machine, especially the rag quilts... but I also have made outfits for my girls. They love to pick out material and have me make sleep pants for them! When they go on overnights to friends houses, they are always the envy of their friends because of their PJ bottoms! lol! I've also made purses that turn out pretty neat. I made one for a gift for my daughter's friend. My daughter picked out the fabric and she "helped" a bit. But it turned out really cute and her friend just loved it.

That sounds like a lot of fun. We have a little boy that I've made pants for, but I think it would be fun to make things for little girls!

I do sew, but I'm don't know how to create patterns. I just pattern out from my clothes. I used to make costumes for my costume play.
