I would just like to know how many of you out there have been fixed and what different operations you have all had done to get fixed? I am wondering if there were any regrets, any health problems/ emotional problems afterwards? How many of you ended up with hysterectomies after sterilization.
After four kids we are ready to be done, and want a permanent fix, but my sister who was clampped after my nephew says it was the biggest mistake of her life because she has all ty[es of hormonal issues, emotional issues and cramping that were never a problem before.
Your input is very much appreciated.

Instead of having my tubes tied or cut, I had 4 Filshie clips put on each side in Feb 2007. It's a permanent fix and it was day surgery. I recovered really quickly and have had no problems or regrets.
I actually think it was a better decision than if my Hubby had a vasectomy, because it's my body that I never want pregnant again. If for some reason something ever happened to our relationship and I met someone new, I wouldn't have to start with the birth control all over again. (not that I'm worried about that, but you just never know, right?)

My hubby got fixed after we had our second daughter and decided we couldn't afford any more children. It was a lot easier for him to have it done than for me!
However, I had to have an ablation a couple years ago because of some problems. That is when they burn the inside of your uterus, so I couldn't get pregnant now even if I wanted to. I haven't had a period since I had it done, which is wonderful!

I have heard of so many women getting pregnant after their hubbies being fixed, like years later, that relying on that scares me.
I know my sister concieved twins 2 years after her hubby was declared "low sperm count" after his vasectomy. She went through hell being blamed for cheating etc.

My mother had no problems at all. She did have a hysterectomy earlier than she would have liked, but that was due to a fibroid tumor. Would your husband consider a vasectomy? They are cheaper, less painful, require less recovery time, and are even reversible if he changed his mind in the future, which is probably not likely, just as you said.

I got the Essure procedure done. My OBGYN in Dallas was new to the field and started opting for that over painful ligations and cauterizations of the tubes. Ligations require open surgery where as Essure is done in office and for me at least, took about 20 minutes. She feels it offers a woman a choice rather than risky stomach surgery that takes a few weeks to heal. She said one of her patients who got a ligation done thought it was like she just had another c-section.
No thank you!
