I know that my sister and my brother in law both quit cold turkey. I think that it was just the support that they gave to eachother that got them through it. If you have a friend who also smokes, perhaps trying to quit together would work.

I quit cold turkey when I found out that I was pregnant and I haven't smoke in over 4 years. It was very hard in the beginnning, but gradually got better. It is easier to quit if you have good motivation (the health of my baby) and the reason that I stay smoke free is the pride that I take in myself on a almost daily basis for beating something so difficult and giving my children a healthier atmosphere.

I'm not a smoker myself, but I hear that there are nicotine replacements, such as nicotine patches and chewing gum that has helped many people quit smoking.

There is a homeopathic medicine named as 'tobaco'. Use its mother tincture when you feel need of smoking. You will get same effect as you get in smoking. And after one or two week you can say that you are getting rid of smoking.
