My mother, daughter, and I sit on the porch and talk about our day. My mother and I have a cup of coffee and y daughter a bottle of water. Lately my daugher has been asking if she can have a cup of coffee with us. She is 15 and I was her age when I started drinking it but I'm not sure about giving to her or not. My mom says let her have a cup it won't hurt. What do you think?

I don't think children should be drinking coffee, even a 15 year old. They have fake flavored coffees, if she's really interesting. It's not good to start a bad habit at such a young age. Just my opinion :)

Well my niece, who I help raise, is 12 and she drinks some now and then. It's before 5pm at night and she knows it too. Also hers is 1/2 and 1/2 with milk so it's not straight coffee. If she wants to try it let her but she might not like it black and want to add things to it. I know I did when I first started drinking it.

i won't recommend them drinking at an early age.maybe when they are say on their twenties and working on their thesis then they could drink coffee to make them awake on finishing their paperworks.:)

It seems that 15 is old enough to drink coffee. I started drinking earlier. But as for me personally I'll try to do my best to give my children only healthy products. I know that will be hard, and my personal example will be the best one (I still drink coffee, with milk only though), but I intend to give it up.

These days kids are drinking cappachinos, mochas ect. while in high school. Personally , I don't drink coffee, but my kids do and they are 16 and 18. I don't think it hurts them. I think it would be nice for your daughter to be able to share a cup of coffee with her mother and grandmother.

I'd say at 15 she's old enough to drink coffee if she really wants to. She's old enough now that it won't effect her in a way it effects young children. As long as it's just one cup every now and then, it won't hurt. I wouldn't recommend her having it more than once a day until her system is used to the initial caffeine hit though.
