To me being a brother is about being there for your siblings by providing an example, spending time with them, enjoy being there with them and just enjoy a brotherly love with the younger ones.

give him money and you will solve the problem.(just kiding)you have to talk to your brother more often and then you will get to know him better.

dude....dont worry just let it flow.... try an understand what he wants.....i mean you dont need that distance...remember about 3 years ago you were the same age... what did you long for?????
and if you really wanna advise him about some thing advise his to identify betwn good and bad friends...you dont want him to end up where others did now do you??
So!!! let him know you care... be tough but not rough.... be eager to xplain... take initiative.. stand by him.. recognize him in public and respect his privacy... treat him as you would treat your self...and see he will come back with the respect you ever wanted in your life...

Compared to the distance between my brother, that's nothing (no offense, btw). My brother and I are 10 years apart. I know, scary.
But, if you're in a fight with him often, try to think up a compromise that will benefit you both at the same time. There's no use giving him all the advantages. Speak to him about life often, and help with his homework when the need arises. There's nothing better than a good brother-to-brother relationship in life.

According to my experience, I think the way to shorten the distance between you and your brother is to understand what he needs. Since you are the elder brother, there must be things that you do better than he does. Try your best to help him to solve any problem he encounters. He would be very grateful for that.
