Today after a long time I went to a chineese van to eat something. That van is run by a localite I mean someone who is not from china and doesn't either look like one, but he has workers under him who I think hail fro eastern regions of India or outside.
They make really good food over there and I had some chicken hakka sakka soup over their which was kind of very good.
But I didn't start this discussion to tell you or explain to about the food or the van, but instead while I was there waiting for my soup to get ready I saw an old man.
That Old man was walking around with a small kid, though he didn't look like a beggar or something but I think he was not that proseperous either.
He asked the van owner to give him chowmein for the kid for five bucks and I think he meant to have chowmein of worth 5 bucks. Usually we have here chowmein at around 20 bucks a plate. So as the owner heard the old man reacted in a very demeaning way and told the old man that there is no chowmein for 5 bucks and said that if everybody started comig with kids then we will have no place to go. As I saw it quite a lot insulte the old man and the man being old could not react back properly and had to walk away in shame.
As I was standing over their I felt if I could help but then I realised that if I helped or tried to help him then it wouldn't have helped but rather worsened his state so I didn't say anything and kept quite.
What do you think people was the owner right in doing what he did??
Was it a fault of the elderly to have acted in such way?? The elderly were quite old as you must know.
What do you think if what I did was good or not?? What else could have been done?? What have any of you done if were in my place??
Its a very important situation and I need your sincere views. They will somewhat help me improving myself and my behaviour towards others.
Thank You
May GOD Bless YOU

What the van owner did was probably right, because he has his business to think about. However, I think I might have discreetly said to the van owner to give the old man a plate of chowmein and add the cost to my bill.
If then, I couldn't afford what I wanted from the van, I would have said, "Sorry, but I have to find somewhere cheaper to eat.", and walked away from him.
It's a difficult situation because not being the van owner, you don't know how many times a day he gets these types of people. But, on the other hand, this particular guy could have been genuine, in which case, he really needed the food for the child. It's very difficult to make an 'on the spot' decision about such things, but just the same, it would lift my guilt and possibly point out to the van ower, his guilt.
Brightest Blessings.

Thanks for your bright reply but as I told that the old man didn't seem to come from the poor side but he just wanted a plate having chowmein worth 5 bucks for the kid and not the plate 0f 15 bucks for 5 and thats the only reason I felt bad for him because the owner without understanding anything just insulted the oldie. He could have done it , I mean telling the oldie off without insulting him. BUt he didn't and I was stupid enough to not to react at the very moment, But anyways
You take Care

if i was in your place i reacted the same way. but in my point view the van owner should give him the chowmein for five bucks atleast he had not asked for it free. and you should help the poor old man. this is my view.
thank you
may god bless you

See one plate of chowmein is too much for a kid the owner should have given what comes in RS 5 and I feel that would have been just right for the kid. Nowadays we have left no respect for our elders. Well if I would have been in your place I would have talked with the owner to give !/4th of a plate to the kid for Rs 5. If he would have refused then even I would have walked out of his joint without any returns for such a rude owner

Hmm.. sometimes it's hard to react immediately when faced with such situation. If I was there, I think the right thing to do would be to stand up for the old man and tell that van owner off. Then I would pay for his meal and have a chat with him (if I am in that kinda mood..) - but it would be ELSEWHERE. I wouldn't pay money to get something from that van because that would be condoning the wrong attitude of the van owner.
