Did your cat change colors?

My kitten is almost a year old and I have been brushing her alot lately because she is shedding so much. But I noticed yesterday that she seems to be changing color...or at least getting more orange. Rain is sort of a tabby, at least along her back, but she has a white belly and orange spots. Now, her orange spots are getting larger and more noticeable. It's like everything she's sheeding is her grey fur. Did anyone else have their cat do this?

My parents had a grey striped cat when I was a teenager. When I moved out, I came back a couple months later and saw this strange cat in the basement. I couldn't believe they had gotten another cat and hadn't told me! My mom came home and thought I was crazy when I asked her about it. He had lost all his stripes and turned gunmetal grey. They didn't notice because they saw him everyday.

She's just a bit odd...the spots under her stripes are adorable, but strange. And the orange is much lighter than the grey was. It's like more of her mother is coming out in her now. Her mother is a neighborhood stray all white with kid of ornage points for lack of a better explanation.

Our cats that have stripes or spots all changed colors and patterns. We have 2 tiger and white cats and as they lose their kitten-ish looks, their stripes are more defined and their fur has changed too. Its amazing to watch the transformation!

Our cat is 4 years old and we've had him since he was a small kitten. When we brought him home, he was all white except for two small blue (gray) spots on the top of his head. They were so adorable and we loved those blue spots.
We're not sure when it happened, but somehow, over time, those blue spots faded. It must have been gradual, because we didn't even notice right away when they were gone. It just hit us suddenly, "Hey Forte, what happened to those spots on your head?" He looked at us blankly, probably because he doesn't speak people too well. ;)
Now we have a gorgeous all white cat. No spots anywhere. Pink nose, pink paw pads, and greenish yellow eyes. He's a beauty, just like he was before. Only... spotless. LOL!

I know how you could miss it. I brush her every day and would have noticed it, but we had a friend come over who hadn't seen her in a couple weeks and said, "Wow, she looks a lot more orange." I think she may be getting more orange on her face too.

Dont take my word for truth but it may be that your kitty is just loosing kitten fur. My female is a tabby and she was more gray when she was a kitten. She is now more brown colored. If you seriously concerned about the loss of fur I would really check with your vet.

I think you're right and she's losing her kitty fur...and her winter coat, since it is now spring. I'm not concerned about the shedding, but I did think it was weird that she was changing colors.

When the kitties grow, the colors can change. I have a tortie. She had white whiskers. Now they are black, and she was much darker when younger..

Yeas actully one time. When I moved from one place to another my cat changed colors. i'm not sure if it was because it was at a new place or what.
