Haird mistake?

Bag over head - I feel like doing this; putting a bag over my head!

My spouse hates my new hair color!!! I colored it a dark brown red color, but the bottom took on a almost black color while the top is brown red? I just don't get how this happend. It's not like I color my hair all of the time. Any suggestions out there? How can I fix this?
