Myself,I am a tea drinker and have been for years.....my husband is a BIG coffee drinker.....when my daughtert was 7,he offered her a taste and to his surprise she loved it....after that, everytime he would make a coffee,he would save her a little in the bottom.....NOW,2 years later everytime she hears the kettle she yells out "Make me one too",he makes her 2 a day,one in the morning and one in the afternoon when she gets home from school.....we have argued about this to the point where I am tired of it,it's staining her teeth and I have a coffee addict at 9.....my 16 year old likes coffee too but he only has 1-2 a week....what can I do or say to get this through his 'thick' head?I have even had my dentist talk to him about this but he doesn't seem to care.....his answer is always 'that coffee,in little bits is good for the heart, and helps to fight against cancer' I know this is true but at 9 years old......All advice is welcome

i'm not sure about all the positives and negatives about drinking coffe at such a young age but i'm with you on this one. i think 2 cups a day for a 9 year old is way too much. maybe finishing a few sips out of her dad's cup is ok but not that much. i know you said you spoke to the dentist but have you tried speaking to your family doctor? what's his advice? good luck.

Couldn't you give her what we used to call white coffee - just a little drop of coffee and a lot of milk.

I am on your side with this one. I think kids should not drink coffee. I can see at maybe 16 but to be a coffee drinker at 9, no I think she's too young.

My daughter also loves coffee....but i give her decaffinated so she's not getting too much caffiene and only maybe once or twice a month. I can see his point of view but he's not giving it to her in "little bits". He's giving it to her a lot. Plus...if he's loading it up with sugar it's going to be horrible for her teeth and negate any health benefits it has.
