Dachshund BITES Infant Child's GENITALS OFF ....

Have you heard this story? It happened where I live so the media is constantly going over the story. But a 5-week baby is in the hospital after sleeping with his mother and she awoke claiming their dachshund dog bit off the child's genitals. The poor thing has already gone through 2 surgeries today. Although there is speculation as to the truth of the mother since the doctor's claim that this is not typical of a dog bite, would you believe her?? http://www.khou.com/topstories/stories/khou070315_ac_babymutilated.134c4285.html

I find it hard to believe, but that is my opinion. I just think its weird. I mean a 5 week old baby wears diapers and I'm sure a dog could bite through a diaper, but not just in one bite, but then again, I could be wrong. I just feel really bad for the baby either way. That poor baby. I hope he ends up with no real problems down the line. And I'm also sure that they can tell if it was a dog bite or anything else. So hopfully soon they can get that out in the open because if it's not a dog bite, then shame on that mother!

My god this just makes a person want to cry... it's horrible, and sounds like the mother had a problem, and she's not cooperating!!!!!!!!! I can't believe this, if anything like that happened to a child of mine, i would do everything i could to find out what happened and fix it, gosh, that poor baby, my god she needs a mental institution!!!!

Wow, I don't know. It sounds kind of fishy to me. It is pretty weird. If it did happen, I would not want to be the mother trying to defend herself.

It sounds a little odd. But what else could have happened to him? What a weird injury for someone to inflict. It's even weird for a dog. It kind of reminds me of the story where a pitbull bit the toes off a little baby. Later they claimed it was a pet ferret. I think the problem is neglectful parents, and I'm not so sure I believe either of these mothers.

There is something strange about this story. I wonder if it is going to turn out that the mother has post partum depression and did something to the child. It will be so sad if that is the case. I wonder why she is not cooperating. Keep us posted on this one. Poor little tyke.

thats terrible, the dog will die for a lie, its a travesty but its how some people are. If the mother had bitten them off she would probably be put in jail

Hopefully it will be found out what happened, seems the mother is not cooperating which makes her appear guilty. Thanks for responding.

omg that story is so sad. something is just not right there, if the doctors are saying it is not consitent with a dog bite, and the mother is not corporating with child protective services. that poor poor baby.

I saw this story last night on the evening news here in Houston. The tv newsperson indicated that he did not believe that the Dachshound did it. The Children's Protective Service caseworker said that he did not believe that the doh injured the child. Did the parents do it? I do not know. I have had several Dachshounds and know that they are not viscious dogs but are sweet and loving.

No, I would not since they are not known to be biters. Also, since they say it is not a normal "bite" I would be further susp. I wonder if the mother was depressed or something.

Yeah I am suspicious of this one also, especially since the mother was sleeping with the child and no diaper on it at 5 weeks of age, what mother does that?

That doesn't sound right to me. How could the dog get into the crib? I've had a Dachshund and they're VERY short, and often fat. How did it get into the crib to do that kind of damage and her not hear the baby screaming bloody murder? Plus, babies wear diapers. The dog would have had to work that off first, not to mention any clothes or blankets on the child? And the mom isn't cooperating with the case? That also seems off. I think she did something to that baby and tried to blame the dog to get out of it. It would be horrible if they put that poor dog down to find out the mother did something to that baby.

I find it strange that the dog would bit off just the genitals. And what was the baby doing without a nappy on? I think they should talk a bit more to the mother before they do anything to the dog as I doubt her story.

Wow. Um. I dont believe the dog story! Why would a dog go after a baby's privates? Seriously? Plus I dont think its the kinda dog to do that. Also how would it get in the baby's bed? A crib is kinda high for a dog. Seriously!
