I liked HAIR and saw the Broadway version in 1971 with Meatloaf in it (you had to be part of the VietNam War era to understand it), but JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR shines above it. I saw Ted Neely in one of his first performances on Broadway as the CHrist in 1974. He retired from the role last year at age 64. WOW!

I saw hair once and was not at all impressed. On the other hand, I have seen Jesus Christ Superstar a million times and I never get tired of it. I absolutely love the music. Ted Neely was just in my area doing live shows last summer. I was so bummed out that I could not go!

I love both but my favorite would be Jesus Christ Superstar. The music in it is fabulous. The play I saw of it (community theater) was very well done and I was 7 at the time. It still sticks with me after 31 years. I wore out one album and two cassette tapes of the music. So far the CD is still going strong thankfully :) Hair was good and I did enjoy the music but JCS is just hands down far better in my opinion.

So you are the Christ, you're the great Jesus Christ, prove to me that you're no fool..walk actoss my swimming pool...
I don't know how to love him, what to do, how to move him, he's a man, he's just a man and I have so many men before...
I love JCSS, Hair was good to...
She asked him why,Why I'm hairy guy,I'm hairy noon and nighty-night night....
JCSS definitely has better music, in fact I can only remember Hair and I think East to be Hard was also in Hair, I think I new most of the songs in the 70's but JC was awesome, of course I do have the sound track for it, so maybe that is why I know it, but I bought JC and not Hair.
JCSS is better.
