I have used Tripod for over eight years. It's pretty easy to use and I haven't paid anything. There is even a way to get your own domain name, but I'm not sure how. And, I know getting your own domain costs extra.

i think www.275mb.com is a good choice to create a web. there is free hosting , no pop-up banner, and have ftp tranfer to upload your web.

you can check this site www.freewebspace.net...it is tutorial and not webhosting site. Me personally is using 50web.com...it has a very good hosting plan, & if some 1 has the web page ready, its worth a try. But 1 thing i want to add, there is big drawback of free hosting, especially if ur's is a business site...many of free hosting companies will claim everything in your site..once they realize that ur site is making good business...no 1 can do anything then (as you have agreed to it in the initial sign up)...So once the business picks up, it is advisable to upgrade to a paid site immediately..
