I grow a lot of tropicals. Too many to list but one of the easy tropical plants that I truly enjoy is the Brugmansia.
It grows tall and has many pendulous blooms. It also comes in a variety of colors and easy to grow.
You can usually find cuttings for sale on ebay or can trade cuttings with friends.
The photo is Brugmansia 'Inca Gold'. Some people confuse Brugmansia with Angel's Trumpets. However an Angel's Trumpet points to the sky. Brugmansia's flowers hang. They used to be in the same Genus as Datura until the last century.
Lets hear about your tropicals

Does it have the same effect that Angel's trumpet does if you eat them? I think I've seen some of those where I live. We have tropical climate here so a lot of this stuff grows naturally.
I grow madagasgar palms... we've had them since they were babies. We've even gotten them to bloom.

I think the effects from Brugmansia are stronger if you eat them. I do not recommend ingesting any part of the plant. A lot of people have tried it and woke up in a hospital a couple of days later.

I don't eat that stuff... yuck. I've seen too many people do too many stupid things after eating angel's trumpet.

Hello coolseeds,I am a avid gardener,I love flowers, plants and anything that grows.I have very many plants around my home.I do not believe that i have seen the Brugmansia though,if i did i did not know what it was.I live in texas and some things grow better here than others,so i try and plant things that will grow in this area.I have heard and seen angel trumpets though.I do have some tropicals but im not at all familiar with all their names.I just buy what i like and what i see that catches my eye.

I have a problem growing anything that blooms as a houseplant inside.. do you think its because of where I live? (Ohio) Or because I'm not doing something right? We are planning on building a new house before long and I would love to have a 'plant room' with a large variety of houseplants, so I would like be able to grow tropicals and get them to thrive.

I love to see tropical plants. I live in the UK so only the hardy ones survive outside. I have a few palm like plants in my back garden and one small palm with a trunk in my front garden. I like the spikes they have.
A few weeks ago I visited a sub tropical garden and saw the most amazing collection of palm trees. Wow! If I retire to a tropical location I would like to have many palm trees in my garden.

i like growing tropical houseplants ...they r such a beauty7 ,i care them ......my favorite is chinese ever green
They tolerate a wide range of light, as well as neglect, and are relatively resistant to pests. They prefer indirect light and partial shade,They do best in shadow-less light, such as a north window. They prefer heavy soil, which should be kept moist
