Concerns about the book version of the Secret.

I'll need to read the book to confirm this, but it seems the book is saying a lot of outlandish things that the movie didn't say. I have heard that it actually says that people get fat due to their thoughts about food, not the food itself. Does it actually say that? If so, that's just irresponsible and factually incorrect.
I believe in the law of attraction, as I've used it and seen it work many times in my life, before "The Secret" ever came out. However, I think it's sad if they start adding a bunch of foofy B.S. to something that's really quite straightforward.

I haven't watched The Secret but, from what I had heard, I gathered that the movie itself already had these far-out claims about the paranormal nature of the "secret law of attraction". So I wouldn't be surprised if the book went even deeper to that side.
I do believe in the very simple law that if you tend to be nice to other people, they'll generally be nice to you in return. If you have a positive attitude about life, you'll cause good things to happen because of the little nice gestures that you will be performing along the way. But there's nothing supernatural, magical or paranormal about this - it's just how humans work.

Well, I haven't read the book. But I do think that it's very possible to stay fit no matter what you eat. Just my opinion.

Of course you can, however, a person's imagination isn't the thing that makes them fat.

The bridge between the "physical" and the "paranormal" aspects of how to use the Law of Attraction in order to effect actual physical changes to the human body lies in the discussion of consciousness.
There are some very compelling arguments that the human body wouldn't even exist without consciousness driving it, and that our physical cells can be controlled by controlling their vibrations - which brings the Law of Attraction into the picture. If that is the case, then it is a very short leap to believe that our consciousness has actual control over our physical states of being, including weight loss and sickness.
I'm not saying one way or the other, although if I absolutely had to choose between our understanding of physical laws and their power, or our understanding of the power of the human mind, I'll choose the power of the human mind every time.
