This will probably tell some of our ages, but I was wondering do any of you remember buying penny candy or going to the Five and Dime? For those of you that don't know what a Five and Dime is, it would be the equivilant of kind of a mix of one of the pharmecies and Big Lots. They had a little of everything there and their prices were low. When I was a kid we would go to Woolworths and TG&Y (which stood for Toys, Games and YoYo's). I could buy my favorite candy for a penny a piece and I was really good while my mom shopped I got to choose what I wanted when she was done. I loved bubble gum, chicken sticks, slow pokes. At Woolworths we would get a grilled cheese sandwich and cherry cokes from the fountain. These were good times. How about you? Anyone remember Penny Candy and the Five and Dime?

Me too. They still sell a lot of my old favorites, but they take a lot of pennies now. Makes me want to go get some to have around. Thanks for responding.

I didn't know they still sold penny candy. These days I tend to buy the nickle candy which usually has a larger selection. In fact, these nickle candies are one of my greatest weeknesses. I'm sure all that gelatin isn't good for my stomach... :)

Let me rephrase this. I mean they still make penny candy they just charge us an arm and a leg for it now. lol I love it though. I have a sweet tooth if I'm not careful.
