Ever had soda pop out of a glass bottle from a pop machine?

When we were kids I remember getting pop from the machine. I would put in my money, and then I would open the skinny door and reach in to grab the pop bottle by the neck. My hand would get really cold and I remember I had to pull a little to get the bottle all the way out. Sometimes the metal lid would press in my hand and leave a dent. But that was really good pop. Kind of like drinking root bear from a frosty mug. Anyone else remember doing this?

Yes, those were the good old days. When we went on a picnic for the 4th of July, my folks would buy a block of ice, put it in an old tin washtub and fill the rest of the tub with bottles of pop. We all had our fill that one day of the year.

It sounds like a lot of fun. I like the way the pop taste out of a cold glass bottle, and I bet those little slivers of ice tasted good too. Thanks for sharing.
