Do you think the MLPD is a good thing or do you think mylot could do without?
I am proud to be a member of the MLPD and I think we have done a great job helping mylot rid this site of cheaters.
Of course there will always be cheaters, but they are much less now then they were weeks ago. We often sacrifice our own time to hunt down cheaters and it has paid off.
What do you think about the MLPD?

In December last year and January this year, there was an enormous amount of copy and paste. I believe at that time, members of the MLPD and others like SKSouth did a fantastic job chasing them and reporting them, with the result that there are very few copy and pasters now, though I've heard a few more have surfaced recently.
At that time I think all myLotians owed a debt of gratitude to those who worked so hard. I believe myLot's 500 ruling earlier this year also did a lot to prevent copy and paste.
If every serious myLotian followed the rules and reported every wrong action they witnessed, we wouldn't need the MLPD - but that isn't saying we shouldn't have it. As far as I know, myLot is happy for the group to continue, and if they are happy, we should all be.

Yes I agree. The reason why more cheaters have surfaced lately, is because we have been busy defending ourselves and our actions to peple that think what we are doing is wrong. I think it proves that if we don't stay vigilant the cheaters quickly surface and multiply.

I would go so far as to say, The MLPD has been the saving grace of mylot. If we could bring back all that we have been responsible for getting rid of...just for one day.. I think people would see us in a new light. I wouldn't say we often sacrifice our own time....we ALWAYS sacrifice our own time as the only thing we get from it is a sense of self satisfaction, a few "good jobs" and a whole lot of Bullsh!t for it....
As Martha would say "It's a good thing"...Kudos to all of us.

I fully support what the MLPD does. I even joined Double's team when it started. Now I feel as though I am on the wrong side of the law. I still report cheaters and will do so as long as they are here. I asked to help and get help only to be ignored.
I have friends that have come under fire and friends that are a part of the "team" I do not know why I am not accepted in, I do not cheat, spam or flame anyone. I may get rilled from time to time but not to the point of being rude or nasty.
I still respect the job done and although at times some get a little to hot under the collar, I understand why most times. It is a tiring, thankless job for the most part. I just wonder why I am ignored, and others who have only just joined the site are welcomed in. I only wonder if I even get a comment on this response.

I'm not sure who you pmed about it or where you posted to join. But I know for a fact that anybody that wanted to join was welcome to. You are more then welcome to join. Feel free to grab my avatar as a shield if you want to.
Be advised though that we are on strike as of today. You can check my profile for that thread since I replied to it and I can't copy and paste yet. It should actually be on the bottom here under related topics.

It was on one of Max's threads about MLPD as a matter of fact I think that was the title of it!LOL I was requesting some others to go to when I found a cheater, and others to give me a heads up if they found one. I requested Max as a friend and got no response, but that could have been because of some other overlook or something. I may have even stepped on a few toes as I (now) know it was her(?) that was into it with a friend or too, and I just wanted it to all STOP! I never intend to be rude, but may have come off that way as I tend to ramble, a bit at times( as you can see!)especially when i am very upset about a topic or post.
I do a good bit of stalking and reporting but even before I saw this or the others about striking and all I decided to stay away from that 'job' so I could stay away from all the fuss. I hate to see anyone be rude to anyone, I hate to see anyone be singled out, I hate what has been going on for the past 2-3 weeks and it really got to me that so many were having problems. I almost quit coming on for about a week. only posting 2-3 a day to my friends ONLY, but am now back, full force.
I have seen SKSouths strike post and read it all put did not post a response as I feel I have been banned from the MLPD because maybe who my friends are? I don't know, I hate cheaters and will report the ones I see whether I am on the MLPD or not, just as we all should.
BTW I have the shield from 3-4 months ago when it was given to Double, I saved it then!

I was aloT one of your friends SK and then poff, gone. Then all the trash going on and my response getting ignored, I took it poorly and felt shunned. I did not know if I had done something wrong or what.
You were my first friend here and got me hooked on stalking!LOL I would spend hours chasing the cheaters and did not know what I know now, so it was even more time consuming.
I also have a question. Is it a reportable offense to post referral links if it is not asked for? I hate seeing them and reported a few, then reread the guidelines and am now unsure. I have been giving a - to them, because they are not getting deleted, or weren't last I looked.

You all have done an amazing job. There is alot less garbage on the site. I see that the ones causing the problems are gone. Cudos to you. Mylot has changed quite a bit in the last while and now we know who to thank!
Please do not be discouraged in your efforts they are appreciated more than you think.

I wasn't going to respond to this discussion but I will. I think most members will agree that that stopping the "I don't know, tell me more" type spammers is a great thing. However, am I am not accusing you or anyone else here, but when people start becoming the myLot censors, that is when the good people here start complaining. I have seen arguments where members of the myLot police have been arguing because they don't like someones tone of voice, or they don't like a comment someone made.
It's a shame that this sort of behavior probably makes up way less then 1% of what the MLDP members get up to, but this is what people see, not the 99.9% percent of the good work they do...

Actually, at times, with written or typed text, you cannot hear someone's tone of voice. The problem that arises from that, unless you REALLY know the person VERY well, sometimes trading insults would actually be insulting when joking around. That is where smilies/emoticons come in handy. However, there aren't any smilies on MyLot, & some of them are not even accepted because of the limits on what keyboard characters can be used.
I vaguely remember that was what started one of the arguments. Someone joked around, & instead of taking it as a joke, it was taken as an insult. Then it seemed to have started off a mushroom effect from there.

You can actually do a surprising number of emoticons on here, to convey the tone of what you are saying, for example
;) :) :( :() and a couple obscure ones...
:-( angry
:-@! Angry and swearing

I didn't even know about the MLPD til an hour ago. I am also a mod at another board not nearly as big as this so I appreciate what you are doing.
I just happened upon a poster who is posting an article verbatim, and is responding to himself with his other accounts with the next paragraphs of the same article. How blatant can you get? I reported it but don't know how to PM you because I didn't want to post the details publicly. It only hurts everybody who is honest when these cheaters copy/paste and still make money.

Well you poor people have your work cut out for you, only 40 of you to police over 87,000 now.....those are heavy odds, but you seem to be doing a good job. I think the suggestion of having a thread for people to post their concerns is a good idea.
The regular members of Mylot should be encouraged to report things they think are wrong and I do think there should be more feedback to all parties involved, private feedback of course. People have to be told whether they are right or wrong so they can take appropriate action in the future.
Good job, and good luck to you...:}
