Love at first sight

hey friends, all of us have heard about this phrase - "love at first sight". Does it really occur or is it just infatuation?
Considering the fact that this is mostly based on outward appearance, the love may fade away later on.
Your comments on this are welcome, as whether you have ever felt this, if you have felt it, what was the outcome later on, of a relationship based on this feeling.
And I have one more question. I feel that guys experience this more than gals. What is the reason for this?

love at first sight is a phenomenon that happens to both male and female folks. it may or may not last depending on what caused the attraction in the first place. if the person possesses other attributes that can make you love the person more then it will grow but if the person possess attributes that you dislike, it will kill that first love and everything will cool off.

What I think is concluded from your discussion is that Love at First is a temporary phenomenon and the person's nature comes into play later on.

Hi friend according to me there is nothing called love at first sight.The real meaning of love is that the two hearts must understand each other and this cannot happen just by looking at the appearances.
Actually love at first sight is a feeling of lust.Both guys and gals are attracted by appearances but guys usually express them than gals do.
Lust can never become love and a relation due to lust can never last long.Lust is a feeling due to the brain and love is a feeling due to the depths of the heart.
Today the increase in divorces is due to the misunderstanding between the feelings of love and lust.True love can never be broken..

In some ways i beleive in love at first sight...like when my children were born!but then again I've never been in love only with my kids. Lust on the other hand exists! It's that feeling at the begining of a relationship, where all you do is think of him or her and the butterflies and all that...so no i guess i dont believe in love at first sight. How can you love someone you dont know?

But those people who claim that love at first sight does occur say that it is because of the person's outward appearance more than his nature.
