I think perhaps their should be equal space for smokers and non smokers. Or if the property is too small to allow that then perhaps a smokers room. A lot of bars have an upstairs and downstairs; maybe upstairs could be for smokers. I think banning it completely in bars is going to cause more trouble in the long run.

I am a smoker and I do understand the non-smoking bans that are in place... For places like airplanes, restaurants, etc... I do believe, though, that they should have seperate rooms for smokers and non-smokers, and not just ban us all together. The old way of doing it, with basically one part of a room being smoking and the rest of the same room non, was just retarded. It didn't do anything at all for non-smokers.
Now, banning smoking in bars would cause more rpoblems than it would solve, for the simple fact that most people who go to bars often enough for this ban to effect, are smokers. It is a simple fact. I'm not saying that everybody who goes to a bar smokes, but the non-smokers, statistically, aren't in bars nearly as much as smokers. This, I feel, should be the one bastion smokers have. Plain and simple.
