Language and society, which has more impact on the other?

I think that goes both ways. I think language forms and impact society. For instance using words that has a racist meaning, or put down groups of people because of religion, culture etc, will have a negative impact upon how these groups of people are viewed. They might feel put down and might act accordingly.
On the other hand the changes in society forms and influence the language. For instance there has been a great developement within computers, cameras, and other technologies. New inventions leads to new words. Language developes and adapts to society every day
