Billboards Ads along the Road

Don't you just hate it when you're commuting to work and see the same billboard of ads showing bikini girls and boys? They are like expensive trash. Wouldn't it be better if they just keep their ads on TV? Hanging it on Billboards put the motorists at risk in too many ways. Insinuating ads keep the drivers glued on them, not on the road. Strong winds can cause the iron boards to crumble down on to the roads, hitting the motorists. Children watch the billboard and imitate their styles, attitudes and behaviors.

Billboards pollute the environment. When I was in College I did a paper on billboards. You are correct they can be dangerous.

Neither do I like to see billboards of those sort. Aside from the points you've raised, they are sort of telling the people that there is nothing wrong with wearing revealing clothes. These types of billboards are undoubtedly, among the main influences in the populace who wear scantier clothes nowadays. Maybe, it will be wise that those lawmakers pass laws regulating these billboards to include: sizes, content, locations, messages conveyed, and all those other things which matter.

I don't mind them really, in fact I do get entertained looking at them. As long as they don't pose a hazard or cause accidents on the road then I think they are okay. It's part of free expression and most that I see are tastefully or artistically done. As to children imitating them, it's our role as parents to explain things to them. The TV that they watch and the environment at home have more influence on them than those billboards.

A few years ago there were a lot of debate about it around here. I do not think they passed any laws prohibiting them, but I have not seen any for a long long time. In fact I cannot even remember when i last saw bilbords with bikini-people on them. Cool! I'm glad - i really did not enjoy them very much. One thing is to show commercials in an environment where you can choose to tuen the tv off, or turn the page in a paper or magazine. It is quite an other thing when you cannot choose to view them or not - like along the road, or at tube stations.

What really bugs me is when they have a billboard like the rotating ones I see on the sides of big trucks!...going to cause an accident

huge billboards in metro manila wrecked havoc last year when two successive typhoons hit metro manila. what you say is true, better confine it to the TV...pinoys specially young kids are fond of imitating, thats true indeed. monkey sees, monkey does, it applies to us, pun intended (sorry)...

Don't look always in to the single side of the coin. Everything in the world will have two aspects. For example take the internet, we know well about it. So don't always think about the negative side of an idea. If our ancestors thought like that then we would have been in the iron ages now.
