What did you / do you call your baby during pregnancy?

It's so hard to avoid referring to your baby as "it" during early pregnancy when you don't know whether baby is a he or a she - so what did you call your baby instead? We had names picked out for our daughter before she was ever conceived - Trey for a boy, or Rachael for a girl. We combined the two and called her "Treychael" until we knew she was a girl, then called her by her name. A good friend called her son Bebe until they knew the gender. Another couple I know opted not to find out the gender, and called theirs FNU ("fin-you") for the duration - FNU being military-ese for "first name unknown". What about you?

Hubby always called her 'Bubsie' and sometimes still does. Both names we had picked out started with the letter k, so I called the baby 'K' or a nickname of either name we'd picked. I was sure I was having a boy up until my due date, so had been calling bubs 'Key', but after the due date past I knew it was a girl and so started calling her 'Kryssie' to make up for all the time I spent calling her Key! Opps! I think she's forgiven me though. :)

We call our son "baby" sometimes "my child" especially we dont know yet if it is a boy or a girl. In my 8 months pregnancy, i went to the hospital for ultrasound. Then, that's the time we think about a name for our baby. They are all boys. Their name Evan James & Miko James.

I would sometimes refer to my baby as "it" but I felt so bad everytime I would say that. I would usually call the baby "little one" or "baby" untill I found out it was a girl and we had a name picked out. After that I called her Rylee.

I called my baby "Kiddo" until I found out she was a girl, then called her by her name, Kamdyn. I kind of like the FNU idea, cute.

I called my children all sorts of silly names before they were born. I thought my oldest was going to be a girl (he wasn't!) and we liked the name Jasmine so my sister decided to call him Jazzy B while I was pregnant. I often referred to him as Bump, sometimes I still do even though he is 7 years old! My youngest had the nickname Little Brew (named after his dads drinking habits!) My partners mum still calls him that sometimes too! I think my nephew was referred to as Arthur but I don't know why.

Oh my goodness I love the FNU, I never thought of that. The only name I ever called my children before they were born was my oldest son. Even in the womb he was very very active and my younger brothers one day referred to the baby as "Weird Harold" from a cartoon of those days. It stuck and we called him that until he was born.

It's a habit when we call the unborn baby it, since we didn't know his/her gender yet. I think most people find it it easier and shorter to call the baby "it", instead of him/her or his/her. When I was preggars, I tried to refer to the baby as "the baby" or "sweet pea" :-)

It's a little funny but we called my youngest 'Cletus'. It was an inside joke and luckily it didn't stick with him!

Hi, my husband and I really intended not to know the gender of our baby to keep the surpise. On my 2nd month we already have the feeling it's going to be a boy so we call him "Brunson" which eventually means son of Bruno (my hubby's name), from time to time we give him a good pat and say hello there little Brunson. However, I always wanted to give him the feeling that he's treated as a baby so i still love to call him 'baby'.

i didnt find out the gender with my first. but we had names picked out, if it was a girl, her name was going to be katrina....and then the hurricane hit....and my baby was now known as "hurricane". my sisters and brothers would jiggle my belly and say "hi hurricane!" and now i am preggo with baby number 2. once again, we didnt want to find out the gender, so we are calling this one "itty bitty bear", my first son is "baby bear"

When I was pregnant with my first child I called her baby until I knew what I was having. I had picked out a name for a boy and one for a girl just in case the ultrasound was incorrect. As far the second child, I was more in denial due to the fact that my first child was only a couple of months old when I found out that I was pregnant. As far as my third one, I knew that he was going to be a boy so I called him my son from the beginning. But just in case that he came out to be another girl, I had a girl name picked out.

I have two children, one girl and one boy. With my first pregnancy, I called our baby "it" too and felt bad about it because when you really think about it, the baby is not and "it"! Once we found out that she was a girl I was relieved to begin calling her by her name. We already had names picked out and Cadence sounded a lot better that "it"! With our little boy, I always refrerred to him as "when he or she gets here..." because it just felt better saying that than "it" again. It is funny how that bothers moms and dads to be because you really want to be able to call the baby something other that "it" and it bothered me just the same with our first child.

Well, we called our baby "the baby" or "evil demon child" (that one was mine) until we found out he was a boy. Now he's my adorable little Mikey who loves to beat mommy up!
