Getting Married

I have been wanting to get my daughters last name changed to mine since her father is never around. However, the man that I am going to marry wants to adopt her. Should I wait or should I go ahead and change her last name and when we tie the knot have him take our last name?

I personally would hold off with the name change and look into any information you can get, I am not to sure what would happen if anything thats why I would call someone and ask! Good Luck with this and keep me posted Stacy

I think wait til you get married then you decide the last name. Wouldn't it be weird when people see that your daughter have different last name from your husband

If the man you are going to marry is going to take your name then I would go ahead and change her name when he adopts her so that she feels special in a way to have the same name as both of you.

he may never be around but i believe he has to approve the adoption so you may have a problem there, check with the laws where you are.
