When I was a teen I walked in three walk-a-thons. I walked 20 miles each time to help raise money. It was hard work and my feet were swollen all night each time, but it was worth it and I helped to raise a lot of money. I am glad I did it. How about you? Every tried anything like that? What was it like?

I've actually organized many events over the year through the Tenderness Tour including an ongoing annual event with the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence. I also have done long distance events (for example, Indianapolis to Chicago), and have ended up in the emergency room twice during events. When I do longer events now, I have a support team with me so that I tend to end up the event healthy.
I tend to go more for the activist related events than the strict 5k events, though my events tend to be more about awareness than fund-raising.

Wow you sound like you are really in shape if you are doing events like this. That is really great. It's good you have a team of people to help you. Thanks for sharing.

I am very active in March of dimes fundraising with my sister. We have many types of activities to raise money and have a walk- a- thon coming up the end of April.
I think this is a great thing and hope that it continues for amny years. Our team consits of 11 people and even includes small children.(ages 2, 6, and 9) and they outwalk most of the adults that participate.
Walk- a- thons are great expieriences, you meet some wonderful people, and you get to help a good cause. I think they are great and I all for them.
