Christiano Ronaldo is from portugal and not spain and hence he would not be too near his home region any way. But, coming to Real's interest in Ronaldo, it is genuine as they need a striker in his role. But, I don't see anyway that Sir Alex is going to let Ronaldo leave Man U at least for the next 5 years. The only thing that can cause this to happen is if the Glazer's get attracted by the money that Real would be willing to offer for Ronaldo and force Alex into the deal. But, I don't see it happening just yet.
Cheers!

It would be very hard for Christiano Ronaldo to go to REal Madrid because he is one of Alex Ferguson's favorite player eventhough lately they have been having problems. It is clear to all the world that Christiano Ronaldo do want to go to Real Madrid but leaving Manchester United would be very hard for the player. I am a Real Madrid fan and I don't see Christiano Ronaldo playing for Real Madrid with the style that Capello is managing

If Ronaldo plays in Real, it would be a dream come true..
Real Madrid should have a Ronaldo in the team whether it was Fat Ronaldo or a Cristiano Ronaldo..

I dont think it will that difficult for Real Madrid to sign him .
If the player wants to go , no matter how much it cost he will go.
That happened with Zidane , Ronaldo, Beckham , all of them wanted to go and they went.
Even kaka if he says to Milan he wants to go, he will go but im not so sure if he wants to.
About Cristiano Ronaldo and Capello dont worry about it, Capello will be lucky if he stays till june .

I don't think Real will get him though... Sir Alex won't let him go easily, that is, if he even think of letting him go. Real would be better off trying for Ricardo Quaresma of FC Porto, a player with similar characteristics. He's certainly more affordable and Real have more realistic chance with him. Better move fast, though, as Chelsea and Inter are closing in on this 'Harry Potter' of Portugal.
