I have a small dog, he's about 6.4 pounds. When I was younger, I use to have big dogs, of course my parents picked them out.
I have a Yorkshire Terrier that I raised from 9 weeks old. He will be 9 years old in December..
Which do you prefer a small dog or big dog? What is the size of your dog?

Poodles are smart and they don't shed but they are high maintenance which can be a problem if you can't afford the groomer. I just love dogs and would adopt almost any size except the really small ones, I'd be afraid I'd hurt them.

I like big and small dogs but if I had to choose, I would say that I prefer small dogs over big dogs quite honestly. Heck, I even have a small dog. She's a jack russell terrier and I absolutely love her. I have since the day I got her. I feel there's just something about their size that makes me like small dogs over big ones. My puppy is roughly about nine to eleven inches long and she is always full of energy. That's one other thing I have noticed about small dogs, they seem to have a non stop supply of energy, and that is very evident with my puppy.
I love in the summer time when I go outside to do some yard work. Or even to BBQ food for me & my other half for dinner. Because if you clap your hands together she will run around in circles in the back yard. Almost like she is burning donuts around the house. It is rather cute to watch. My other half & me always call her a bundle of joy because of the fact that she seems to always be full of energy every minute of the day! It's one of the things that we just love so very much about her!
I think that small dogs are more precious than big ones because there's something about their size that just remind me of a puppy. I think it's great when you can see the full sized dog you have as a puppy. I have a dog that is full sized, well medium sized if you will.. But still to this very day.. I still see the puppy within her all the time. She's curious like a little puppy and she's always getting herself into mischief, It's actually really sweet to see her like that because it makes me feel like she has never aged since the first day I got her.
I love my puppy and I would not trade her for a large dog for anything in the word. I love her size because she's easy to lay down with. I'm sure laying down with a big dog would not be as easy as it is with her. I think that there are a lot of things I like to do with my puppy that I would not be able to do with a larger dog. I seriously feel there is a problem when I can't snuggle with my puppy, much rather do anything that requires me to hold on to her.
She's honestly always there for me whenever I need a little boost or if I just want someone to snuggle with. I love that she's just big enough to wrap my arms around. I would still I am sure some-what be able to do that with a larger dog but.. I am not sure if I would feel totally comfortable doing so. This is one of the reasons I love my sweet little puppy and I would do anything for her. She is a very important part of my life and I cannot say anything more that I love her so very much.
In conclusion, I will always prefer a small dog over a big dog. There is something about their ability to snuggle and cuddle that just makes me love my own puppy more. I see how curious and playful she is like a little puppy yet she is fully grown. I wouldn't give her up for the world any day! . .
Thanks for allowing me to share! xx

aww, I know what you mean. My dog is about 6 pounds and he is 8 years old. He got alot of puppy in him too, still fully energetic and love to play and run around outside.
I love taking my dog for walks in the spring/summer time. He is the king of the block, well at least he thinks

I currently don't have a dog. But, my favorite dogs and the ones I have had in the past are big dogs - Great Danes. Beautiful, intelligent and very gentle with their families. They are also very protective of small children and other pets. Right now, I just don't have the room to keep them; so, I have two cats instead.

I have a cocker spaniel- she was the runt of the litter- and has not grown that much. I think it depends upon the size of your house- I love yellow labs; but one would be way too big for my house.

I prefer smaller dogs, because they are less likely to knock me over when they greet me at the door. My sister raises daschshunds, and I just love them!!

I had a Big one.The German shepherd. She was the only one I ever had and loved her a lot.I think she was about 2 feet in length.I like the small ones as well. They are cute, but I have always preferred the larger ones.If it's left to me I'd choose either the German shephers or the doberman.

This is really a tough one. I don't have a dog though I would really love to have one. On one hand, small dogs are cute. On the other, big dogs can protect me.
If I were to choose, I think I would go for the big one. I fierce looking and cute enough, and cuddly enough for me to hug. :)
