Other that what is written on the scriptures, what is faith really? how do you obtain such? how do you know that your faith is true? how does it really work? I am currently struggling with regards to my faith, stuff happens and i find myself in a situation where i tell myself to just have "faith" and evrything will be better- but im so lost now i'm finding it hard to understand what FAITH really is..i don't even know if i did have any of it- is it the same as when you believe in something? like when you believe that there is a God? does it automatically mean that you have FAITH in him? please enlighten me before i drown too deep into emptyness...

Faith is the foundation upon which love grows. It is like a trellis on which devotional love crawls & moves upward. The development and fruiting of real love is possible in a genuined spiritual process. In other words, when one has the true seed of raith planted in his heart by the expert sower of seeds, the growth process begins.
Variety: If the seeds of the wrong variety, the desired fruit cannot be obtained. If the seeds are not vaiable, no amount of watering can make them sprout. In the early stages of spiritual practice, one does not yet fully experience love. One may have a glimpse or tiny taste of the real thing after a wonderful spiritual activity, but it is only like a flash of lightning in the sky.
Faith is thus important to keep us focused on the path of developing true devotional love for the Supreme and all others. Without this faith, one gives up, & allows himself to be carried away by materialistic life.
Faith means understanding in one's heart that he is loved unconditionally by the Supreme Lord and His representatives. Faith allows one to rest his battered heart at God's feet & take shelter in Him. Faith makes one experience that he is not struggling alone. He knows that God is with him and that God loves him. This faith allows a humble person to face many difficulties. When one has true faith, he also understands that the process will bear fruit in due time. He does not lose heart and get distracted from his goal, because he knows that if he simply follows, growth and maturity will result.
Happiness: He experiences complete faith that he will eventually taste true devotional love for the Supreme & His children. From this faith, love develops. And from love, happiness and peace manifest themselves. Just as the growth of plants is a natural process, so is the development of love from complete faith

Well honey I'm no expert but I would say that faith is not something you have because you want to - it is something you feel in your heart! Basically faith means to trust; if you have faith in God you trust him and believe in him! This is only my opinion and I don't know if it helps but I hope it does!

Faith is a belief, trust or confidence, not based on proof or material evidence but based on a decision that something exists due to some personal experience that made you feel as such. Faith is learned and is not innate. The whole reason why we have religion classes and mass to attend to is the fact that we are not born with faith....we cultivate it based on our own belief system, decision making skills and life experiences. It is only you who can decide for yourself what road to take...whether you believe in something or not. Follow what your heart tells you.
