Help with firefox

I downloaded firefox today and I am still finding my way around. There is one feature that I really dislike, and it is the spell checker. So I went to a few forums and this looks like a real problem, but everybody on those forums are talking such high tech language I don't understand. I used iespell before and it worked wonderful, but now it is not working, I think it is not compatible, so I downloaded hunspell, it is not working either. On one of the forums they talked about different licenses and that is why it won't allow another spell checker. Is there a place where I can disable the default spell checker.
