while being afraid? The bible says in 2 Timothy that God did not give us the spirit of fear. God does not want us to give in to our fears. He wants us to do it afraid and overcome this fear. I have done what God has told me to do in fear many time. What about you?

lol that's where I got this from. I think so because fear will hinder you. It has me many time from doing things I wanted to do. It will also hinder your relationship with God if you let it. I believe this is one of satan's biggest things is to put fear in us. He knows the hindrances it causes in our life. It keeps us from doing what God asks us to do.

Hey
You made me think.Thankyou. I remember that I was afraid to speak in front of the class at school. I stammered and trd to swalow, but my throat was dry. I got red It was indeed pleasant.
When grown up I found that I without any fear I could recite my own poems to huge crowds and get appauses for it. So it depends. If you really have something to say you can do it. I mean Even if you have "scenefever" as we call it.

yes I have done things I am afraid of when it is necessary not when it is stupid. God gave us a brain as well to know what is good for us and what is not.

Yeah plenty of times. Most recntly was walking from my doctor's office to my grandmothers. I have multiple sclrosis and because of this I use a cain to keep my balance. My sister was supose to came and get me but I could not get ahold of her her cell kept saying out of the area. I called my Grandmother but she drove right past me so as mad as I was and scared I had no choice but to walk to my other grandma's The whole way I prayed because i haven't walked this far in a long time and I also Watched my feet to be careful not to fall. I was scared of falling because if I fall here at the house I have to find something to help myself up anyhow. I made it finally and I think God that I did. So after being scared of afarid I was glad the God helped me to get there safely

I don't think fear is a bad thing. In some cases it's nothing but a warning to stay away from trouble. I think it has to do more with what you are fearing, if this fear is rational and if this fear controls your life. Say you are afraid of black bears in an area where there no black bears. That is an irrational fear and you should use the sound mind (see posts before) to overcome that fear.

Hi mjsdls,
Nice to be able to respond to such a good discussion.
I too have faced the challenge of obedience to God. I can't say that I did it all with no fear. Many times God challenges us to issues when we might feel the emotion of fear, but knowing what fear is, and where it comes from, who the author of it is, I go forward through obedience, not to face the fear. The consequences of overcoming 'the fear' are blessing we receive from obedience, not from conquering 'the fear'.
Jesus said," Fear Not, for I am with thee" The first of that message is plain. It says, "Fear Not". It doesn't say why or if or when. It just says "Fear Not". The rest of the message says, "Because - I Am" with thee. The I Am is filled with such power. The I Am being God through Jesus Christ is a powerful message.
I such instances, I know, even with the fear that is placed in me, which says, "You can't do this", that it is much more pleasant to receive a blessing from God from being obedient to His Will, rather than to listen to the negative force filling me with doubt, questioning The Faith.
Through obedience to God we triumph over evil; we only conquer the force of the current evil when we are obedient.

I love the way it's in the God's Word bible -
2 Timothy 1:7 God didn't give us a cowardly spirit but a spirit of power, love, and good judgment.
Yes, I too have done what God has told me and faced my fears - we still joke about it but I lived in this house for nearly 6 months before I would go in the basement alone. I can now go down there during the daylight with no problems and even have gone down once or twice at night (lights on of course).
