When you hear the word "contraction", the first word that probably comes to your mind is "pain". But can a labor contraction be a friend, not a foe?

The best way to look as a contraction is with everycontraction you have you are that much closer to giving birth. God knows how many contractions you are going to have and he will not let them go on forever. Even though they may be painful think of it as pain with a purpose. I was so excited when I finally started having contractions.

What??? I am 39.5 weeks pregnant and I when I hear the word, "contraction" I think, "THANK GOD!" Even before now it brought on feelings of amazement -- knowing that contractions will bring me that much closer to having my daughter in my arms!

I think early on in my pregnancy I feared the word contraction, but as I neared my due date it sounded more like relief. When I went through the actual labor I found the pain to be refreshing (believe it or not)!!
