I try to wait until there have not been any responses for about 3 days. Sometime I get anxious and just give it when I see a really good one. However, I want to wait and give many a chance to respond and pick the one I feel is best. Then I have noticed other’s pick the best shortly after they have one post. Then it sometimes will deter me from posting. I try not to let it but I think will the person return to read my post even after the best one has been selected. I know I do return even after the best is selected. So back, to may question of how long do you wait to select the best response?

Well I am a poster, so i can't give best response to anyone. However, i make it a point to give + rating's to my friends and other good posts. In fact i am going to give '+' to you. So, just have nice big smile and continue posting good discussions.:)
I think the rule for deciding to whom to award the best response is simple, just check out the positive replies and after 2-3 days just award the best response to the best positive reply. However, i have seen a few people here who just start multiple discussions in fact 4-5 per day and do not bother commenting or giving + and best response. It's best not to post anything in their discussions, as they themselves do not show interest in the questions they have asked and are merely spamming the board.

Usually I waits for atleast 20 responses and then compare them.Sometimes it happens earlier. But I always try to maintain my standard to give anybody best response marks.

It doesn't matter when will you give the BEST RESPONSE RATING. What matter is that you recognize the efforts of those who made a good response. I admit most of the time I find it hard to decide to whom will I give my best response rating but I made sure I all rated all response positively to compliment those who give effort to respond.
If I come across one good post I reply even if the user has already denoted the best response.
Its just dissappointing sometime if a respondent rate negatively the one who post the topic just because he doesn't agree with his ideas.

Mylot reccomend that we leave our discussions for a few days to give a chance for the mylot community to be on line and find the discussions that interst them, so that you have enough responses to be able to find the best so that you can then rate then.

If i think a reply is so good that it deserves the best response, I may give him/her the best response, but in most of the case, many replies are of high quality and I need some time to think about it, after few days ,when i receive mose of the replies, I may choose the best reponse.
in fact ,it is really hard to choose.

I try to wait at least 3-4 days. This way all my Friends can get a chance to choose to reply or not. Anyone who is at work or not logged in can or might find it. This way I can read through and do a few of my discussions all in one day.

I`m a practic guy. I no wait to long to mark a best response, but I can do it fast if I have responses to my question. Sometime I think my question are not interesting so I have to wait a long time for at least one response. In order to this once I was waiting 5 days to select a best response. But I dont feel bad or anxious about this fact. I say to myself that were no people around to my interest question and I `ll wait untill somebody will be enough interested to give me a response. Bye, I hope my response can satisfie you.

I'm still trying to judge that myself. There's a new post every few seconds, so some discussions just get buried and are never seen again (yeah, I'm learning to navigate this site - lol!).
Right now I say 24 hours. And I try to give positive rep for the other replies too.
